About
Amber Marie completed her degree in Textile Design at Loughborough University in 1998. She then continued her textile career in New York where her print designs were sold to clients such as Armani Exchange, Calvin Klein and Kenneth Cole. Upon returning to the UK in 2001 she designed ranges for a London independent clothing boutique and also designed prints for Top Shop, Miss Selfridge and other leading retailers. An attraction to jewellery design led Amber to work for a high street jewellery supplier where she created commercial jewellery ranges and textile patterns which were applied to shells, beads, pendants and bangles - all of which went on to be top sellers in shops such as Accessorize, Next and Oasis.
The commercial expertise and design experience gained while working for these companies, along with a passion for design and creativity inspired Amber to create her own product ranges by combining the two disciplines of jewellery making and textile design. She began by experimenting with printing her designs onto leather which she then crafted to make a diverse range of products. Her aim was to create and sell high quality jewellery, which is unique compared to most of the jewellery seen on the high street (being hand-made). She also wanted to make products which are different in design to other designer makers and which retail at a more affordable price than most high-end designers.
In 2005 Amber launched her company "Amber Marie” which has grown into a successful business supplying gift shops, specialist online shops and showcases, art galleries, fashion boutiques and independent retailers across the UK. The products and designs are often daring, bold, quirky and fun. They are also stylish, fashionable and eye-catching, making them suitable for a wide range of customers. The majority of the work is hand crafted by Amber and therefore, for these items, no two pieces are exactly alike. Amber’s inspiration comes from travel, nature and love of colour. She is also inspired by interior design, illustration and textile prints. Amber also likes to research fashion trends and has a passion for all things vintage. “I love to collect unusual trinkets, vintage jewellery, buttons, patterned china and unusual patterned fabrics” (Amber Marie).
